I’m not interested in pretending there was some lesson worth the price. Maybe I’ve learned things. Of course I have. Pain is an aggressive teacher. But if somebody offered me all the “growth” back in exchange for her being alive, I would take that deal so fast it would make their head spin. So let’s not get cute about the educational value of devastation.
