The Wall

I had one of those nights where I wanted comfort in the most primal sense. Not advice. Not conversation, even. Just that simple mammalian thing of another body in the room that says you are not carrying existence alone tonight. That’s what widowhood detonates in a way people really underestimate. It’s not only emotional companionship. It’s regulation. It’s nervous-system partnership. And once you’ve known that level of closeness, generic company does not scratch the itch.
