I miss being able to tell one person the whole truth without editing for impact. That is such a huge loss and it’s hard to explain why. Everyone else gets some version. A slice. A summarized report. A strategically reduced draft. She got the uncut feed. That kind of access doesn’t get replaced by “support systems.” Support systems matter. I’m grateful for them. But they are not the same as having a person who speaks your native emotional language.
